Welcome Serouj
Amici welcomes Serouj Kradjian with a performance of one of his
favourite chamber music works, César Franck’s monumental piano quintet.
He and David are joined by three exciting and highly sought-after
musicians from McGill University’s Faculty of Music, violinists Jonathan
Crow and Mark Fewer and violist Douglas McNabney.
The first half of the programme will begin with Franz Krommer’s
beautiful Clarinet Quartet and then Serouj, Joaquin and David will
perform Amici’s first commissioned composition, the Juno Award-winning
trio, “Among Friends” by Chan Ka Nin.
Programme II, Sunday December 7,
2008, 3:00 pm
Pre-Concert Chat hosted by Keith Horner, 2:30 pm
End of Time
Time, Fate and Destiny. Violinist Benjamin Bowman joins us in
celebrating Olivier Messiaen’s hundredth birthday with his signature
piece “Quartet for the end of time” and commemorating the 20th
anniversary, to the day, of the devastating Armenian earthquake,
premiering a new work by Serouj Kradjian “11:41 – In Memoriam”.
Programme III, Friday April 3, 2009, 8:00 pm
Pre-Concert Chat hosted by Keith Horner, 7:30 pm
Poulenc’s musings
Dedicating a whole evening to Francis Poulenc’s chamber music seemed
like a wild idea at first. But the temptation of playing his famous
Sextet with the brilliant TSO wind principals and presenting his “Story
of Babar” for piano and a surprise prominent guest as narrator was just
too great. An evening for 9 to 90 year-olds.
Programme IV, Sunday May 10, 2009, 3:00 pm
Pre-Concert Chat hosted by Keith Horner, 2:30 pm
Schubert and Tango
Musica Sacra e Profana, Amici style! We reunite with Canadian opera star
Isabel Bayrakdarian, to perform an eclectic programme including
Schubert’s “Shepherd on the Rock” and dazzling tango songs from around
the world, from her critically acclaimed CBC release “Tango Notturno”.

repertoire
Thirty minutes prior to each concert we will be holding a Pre-Concert Chat in the hall for the purpose of providing our audience with further insight into the music which is being performed. We are indeed fortunate that Keith Horner has agreed to host these events.
