COLIN EATOCK, MUSIC CRITIC

Colin Eatock is a composer, music critic, author, editor and teacher who lives in Toronto. He frequently writes for Toronto's Globe and Mail newspaper, and has contributed to the New York Times and the Houston Chronicle, and to music periodicals in the USA, the UK and Canada.

His first book, Mendelssohn and Victorian England, was published by Ashgate Press in 2009. He holds a PhD in musicology from the University of Toronto, and has lectured at the U of T. As a composer, he has written songs, chamber works and orchestral compositions. His music has been recorded on the Furiant, Echiquier and Toreador labels, and has been heard on the CBC.
